Exclusive: watch the haunting new video from Korean-Danish band Meejah

Meejah are an interesting band, bringing together the sounds of Korean and Danish tradition to create a singular, experimental sound.

Meejah's music is a fusion of traditional Korean and Danish folk music with elements of experimental, rock, and electronic music. Their sound is a startling blend of instruments, such as the traditional Korean gayageum, the Danish accordion, and the guitar.  There are nods to Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Bjork and post-metal in here, too.

The band members met while studying music in Denmark and quickly discovered their shared love for traditional music from their respective cultures. They began to experiment with blending these sounds together, and Meejah was born. Since then, the band has performed at festivals and venues in both Korea and Denmark, gaining a loyal following and critical acclaim for their innovative sound.

Their latest single, Queen Min, Rise (Fire), is an intensely brooding affair and sees the band at their darkest powers. It's a haunting, noise-driven track bursting with dread-bearing cinematic atmosphere.

The equally esoteric video that accompanies Queen Min, Rise (Fire), comes out as an exclusive for Platform Magazine. Through a series of disturbing aesthetics and an artistic performance from Meejah frontperson Mai Soon Young Øvlisen, Queen Min, Rise (Fire) is a dark and shocking watch. Check the video out below.
